We help students develop the following essential skills:
  • Organizational skills
  • Study skills and note taking
  • Time management

As with all of our tutoring, we help students learn these skills in customized, personal ways that cater to their unique needs and developmental level.

We provide preparation in the following standardized tests:
  • SAT
  • SAT II Subject Tests
  • ACT
  • SHSAT and Hunter College High School Entrance Exam
  • AP Tests
  • New York State Regents Exams
  • New York State Elementary and Middle School Testing (e.g., ELA)
  • GRE

Success on standardized tests is a function of a studentís content knowledge, critical thinking skills, and familiarity with the test. We strive to develop a studentís competency in each of these areas.

We also provide assistance for adult students in the following areas:
  • Writing (e.g., graduate level paper and thesis writing)
  • Developing cover letters and resumes
  • Interview coaching
  • Proposal writing (e.g., consulting services and project proposals)
  • Graduate school admissions essays
Parent Consultations provide an opportunity for parents to receive individualized guidance regarding their child's needs beyond a quick email or short phone call. All Parent Consultations are conducted by Mind Full Tutors' Owner and President, Janna Taylor, who has over 17 years experience counseling parents in a wide range of academic issues. Some questions and concerns that could be addressed in a Parent Consultation include:
  • Should my child be tested for a learning disability? If so, how should I go about finding an effective psychoeducational assessor?
  • I am very confused about the college essay process. What does my child need to do to get all the essays written?
  • My child resists doing homework, procrastinates and is completely unorganized. What should I do?
  • I've heard that many students are now taking the ACT rather than the SAT. What is the difference? Which test "looks better" to college admissions boards?
Consultations are $120/hour or $65 for 30 minutes. Sessions are held over the phone or at our tutoring center located at 125 E. 87th Street, #15A.
Rates. Rates for grade school (K-12) students are:

  • $1,440 ($180/hour) for a package of 8 hours
  • $1,920 ($160/hour) for a package of 12 hours

Format and Scheduling. Each tutoring session is conducted in a one-to-one format and lasts one hour. We do not require a minimum number of sessions, but most students enroll in at least one session with the same tutor each week. Weekly tutoring ensures students maintain high academic standards and discipline. We offer "as needed" appointments if tutors are available. We hold sessions Monday through Saturday.

Content. Students can receive tutoring in more than one subject per session. We do not require clients to schedule one session per subject (i.e., one session for science, one session for history). For instance, a student may work on an English paper draft for 20 minutes of the session, and spend the remainder of the session solidifying concepts for an upcoming Chemistry test.
